Great Camera Christmas Gift Ideas

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

It is getting to be the holiday season and I have been getting a lot of questions from friends and clients about purchasing a camera.  Many people purchase cameras this time of year as gifts or for recording their own family memories.  They often ask my opinion as a professional about what camera they should buy.  I have put together a list of a few of my favorites:

Favorite Point and Shoot Camera under $200:            Panasonic Lumix Camera

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4 Digital Camera – This camera is remarkable in many ways.  It has a compact, stylish body that is small and easy to carry. The camera’s 8.1 effective megapixels of resolution means that you can make larger prints of your favorite images. Best of all, the camera has a Leica brand lens.  Leica lenses are typically only found on more expensive cameras.  These lenses are incredibly sharp and well made (equivalent to 28 - 280mm on a 35mm film camera). This versatile camera is well suited to a broad range of shooting opportunities both close up and wide angle.

Favorite SLR Camera under $500:       Nikon D40 Camera

The Nikon D40 Interchangeable-lens Digital SLR – This camera boasts handling and performance advantages that do away with the frustrations often associated with compact digital cameras. For consistently crisp, clear and better images SLR cameras are the way to go.  It features a high-resolution 6.1-effective-megapixel Nikon DX Format CCD image sensor and a highly advanced Nikon Image Processing Engine. Furthermore, Nikon’s exclusive 3D Color Matrix Metering II assures accurate exposure control even in difficult lighting conditions, and an AUTO ISO feature makes the most of available light by automatically setting the camera’s light sensitivity from the available ISO range of 200 to 1600.

This camera comes equipped with a specially designed 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor lens.  Because it is a SLR camera you can change out the lenses and upgrade as you become more interested in photography.  The D40 is light and compact, making it easy to carry anywhere. The camera’s design also incorporates fewer potentially confusing controls then other SLR cameras, allowing those who are not professionals to still take great photos.

I hope you find these tips helpful.  Remember that the most important camera tip is to relax and have fun taking your photos regardless of your equipment!

Big Studio Changes!

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

We are extremely excited about all the changes taking place in our photography studio!

We are making additions to the physical appearance of the studio as well as additions to our studio staff! Some of the physical changes include new fun paint colors - blue to match our logo in our main sitting area and brown back in our new slideshow viewing area. Our logo colors are transitioning from blue and black to blue and brown and we are implementing some artsy blue and brown designs on our print material and on our walls in the studio.  Our new slideshow viewing area has a large flat screen tv mounted on the wall as well as a sitting area for clients to view slideshows from specific weddings venues and specific photographers. We’ve also installed an electric backdrop system with some new fun backdrops for our studio maternity, baby, children, and family portraits.

We’ve also brought on some new team members! Michael is our new editor and design specialist and Allison is our new receptionist. Welcome to Michael and Allison! We are thrilled to have you working with us! In addition to her great phone and office skills, Allison also speaks fluent Spanish. This is a great asset for us in the studio because we do receive a lot of calls from Spanish speaking clients. Now we can say, “We speak Spanish!”

We’ll post some pictures when we are finished with the studio updates.

We’re blogging now!

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

Hi Everyone! We now have our own Jennifer Angeloro Photography blog! In addition to starting a blog, we will also be launching our new website shortly! Our web designers have been working extremely hard on it the past few months…it is going to be awesome! Be watching for our new website soon!

We’ll be using this blog to post information about our studio, recent updates or news, photography ideas/tips, and images and info about our latest weddings and portraits! Stay tuned for more blogs!

This past weekend our studio members attended the Imaging USA Expo in Tampa, Florida. The expo had hundreds of different booths - quite overwhelming, yet exciting at the same time. We found many photo companies very helpful - we look forward to implementing some new ideas and products! The classes were also very interesting and beneficial. We all went to different classes and were able to share the wealth of information with each other!
